Fremantle Dockers defender and midfielder Hayden Young had a breakout 2024 season, establishing himself as one of the club’s rising stars. At just 23 years old, Young collected a career-best 12 Brownlow votes and achieved his highest-ever finish in the Doig Medal, finishing third. This was thanks to an exceptional full season as a midfielder, where he set career highs in disposals (548), tackles (123), clearances (116), and goals (13).

Young also set a new Fremantle club record for the most inside 50s in a season (134), further demonstrating his ability to influence the game. Known for his elite ball use by foot and composure under pressure, Young is poised for another strong season in 2025. He has signed a long-term deal with the Dockers, securing his future at the club until at least 2033.

After a standout 2022 season in which he played 22 games, Young was elevated to Fremantle’s leadership group at just 21 years old and after only 35 games. The Victorian, who was Fremantle’s first selection at pick number 7 in the 2019 National Draft, has quickly become one of the most exciting talents in the AFL.

Growing up, Youngy barracked for Collingwood, but we’ve since forgiven him.
