Dave Coulier, Full House star and comedian, has recalled the moment he was diagnosed with an ‘aggressive’ form of stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
As first reported by People, the diagnosis came after Coulier experienced persistent upper respiratory symptoms and lymph node swelling — at one point, a lymph node swelled to the size of a golf ball. Urged by his doctors to undergo CT and PET scans, along with a biopsy, the results confirmed the diagnosis.
“Three days later, my doctors called me back and said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s called B cell, and it’s very aggressive,'” he said.

The sudden shift from thinking he had a minor illness to facing cancer, he said, was “overwhelming” and described the journey as a “fast rollercoaster ride.”
In a recent interview with The Today Show, Coulier explained why he’s choosing to be transparent about his health struggle, hoping his experience might encourage others to prioritise preventive health measures.

“I just kept thinking that if I tell people about it, they might get a pre-screening or a simple exam, like a mammogram, colonoscopy, or prostate check. It’s a small step that can add years to your life,” he said.
While Coulier’s cancer is aggressive, his bone marrow test came back negative, a positive sign that has significantly raised his chances of recovery.
“That news took my odds of a cure from something low to around 90%. That was a great day,” he noted with relief.
