“If this is the genre you’re into, you’re gonna dig this,” our movie guy Ben O’Shea said straight-up of the new Aussie horror flick, Talk To Me.
Australian twin co-directors Danny and Michael Philippou, 30, who first achieved viral success with their horror-comedy YouTube channel RackaRacka, have made their feature debut with a story about a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits by using an embalmed hand and become hooked on the new thrill like a recreational drug.
That is, of course, until things don’t go according to plan.
The Philippou brothers did some intern work on the set of The Babadook (another incredible Australian horror movie) and, in Talk To Me, it shows.
“The DNA of The Babadook is in Talk To Me,” O’Shea said adding its “probably up there with The Babadook as one of the best Aussie horror films of the last decade.”
In fact, Talk To Me was so well received at Sundance earlier this year it had two studios in a bidding war after it screened.
