If you weren’t so jazzed with the first Downton Abbey movie – good news – our movie guy reckons this new one is wayyy better.
Downton Abbey: A New Era, which is set roughly a year after the first movie, hits cinemas today.
“You’ll be happy to know this sequel gets back to what Downton does best,” Ben O’Shea told Clairsy & Lisa on Thursday. “You know, that juxtaposition between upstairs and downstairs, the trials a tribulations of the Crawley family and the dramas happening in the servant’s quarters.”
O’Shea said there were two parallel plots of the movie which will feel familiar to those who are fans of the show.
The first is set around everyone’s favourite spitfire Dowager Countess Grantham herself, played by Maggie Smith – which includes a dalliance she once had in France. Ooh la la!
