It wasn’t so long ago that many cinemas were struggling with the reality that a whole lot of movies simply weren’t being made and, to make ends meet, began to re-screen flicks we hadn’t seen on the big screen in decades, and it was kinda great.
Turns out, there’s a couple of places in Perth that are still doing it, and their September line-ups are nothing short of epic.
Over at Reading Cinemas in Belmont, you need to check their ‘Coming Soon’ tab. If you do, you’ll see Shrek is making a big-screen comeback! We’re talking Shrek 1, 2, and 3 – perfect for families or anyone who didn’t catch them at the movies the first time around.
They’re also showing a true Aussie cinematic gem – the 30th Anniversary screening of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. If that’s not enough, how about the Christopher Nolan masterpiece, The Dark Knight Trilogy, as a triple feature: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
But the cinematic goodness doesn’t stop there.
Over at The Revival House in Como, they’re keeping the magic of film alive—literally! This beloved theatre only screens movies on film. Yep, no digital projection here—just good old 35mm film, with the occasional 16mm for that extra vintage feel.
Their September lineup is a cinephile’s dream. Think disco fever with Saturday Night Fever, girl power with Spice World The Movie, and a taste of classic adventure with King Kong (the 1933 original starring Fay Wray). And that’s just the beginning! You can also catch the iconic Pulp Fiction, the quirky romance Shirley Valentine, and the thrill-packed Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Other gems include the road trip drama Into The Wild, the mind-bending mystery The Usual Suspects, the supernatural horror Christine, and everyone’s favourite sequel, Back To The Future II.
