Forty-five years after the original dystopian blockbuster hit our screens comes the newest chapter in the dusty, dirty Mad Max universe.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is both a prequel and origin story of Imperator Furiosa, who was first introduced in the 2015 hit Mad Max: Fury Road, originally played by Charlize Theron:
Set over a 15-year period, the film stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Alyla Browne as younger versions of Furiosa and Chris Hemsworth as biker warlord Dementus.
On Thursday, Ben O’Shea acknowledged there were two challenges that Furiosa was probably always going to face:
One, it follows the critically-acclaimed Fury Road, which won six Academy Awards and is considered one of the greatest action movies ever made. No pressure or anything, right? Second, because it’s set over a much longer period rather than Fury Road’s hectic three days, it’s obviously going to go at a slower pace, but but but… Ben urges the hell out of us to ‘stick with it!’
Our chat with Ben also goes into why the movie was shot in the Namibian desert and not outback Australia… and what happened when he randomly ran into Thor Hemsworth in a hotel gym, and they worked out together.
‘I had a 45-minute hot bath, hoping my muscles would reattach themselves back to my body,’ Ben admitted. lol.
