Not gonna lie, this one really threw us.
Those heroes in a half-shell are back on the big screen, but at least they’re back in their original form: animation.
One person who was still keyed-up like a 14-year-old from seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was Ben O’Shea, who’s first word on Thursday morning was ‘Cowabunga!’
Lol, we love it when he’s like this.
“This is the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie ever!” he added with gusto, I mean, we never really took our Ben as a TMNT superfan but here we are.
“It’s the most incredibly innovative animation – it’s bonkers how they put it together,” he remarked, comparing it to the stunning success of the recent Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The flick is produced by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, who were behind comedies such as Superbad, This Is The End and Bad Neighbours – and O’Shea said they’ve taken that same vibe to this movie.
“It’s suitable for kids but there is so much in there that will be literal laugh-out-loud moments for adults,” he said, adding, “especially adults who were kids in the late ‘80s and ‘90s.”
But it was his rating that really caught us off-guard.

Seth Rogan also lends his voice in the movie (as Bebop), as does John Cena (Rocksteady), Jackie Chan (Splinter), Ice Cube (Superfly), Maya Rudolph (Cynthia Utrom), Rose Byrne (Leatherhead), Paul Rudd (Mondo Gecko), Post Malone (Ray Fillet) and stack of others.
And O’Shea isn’t alone in his energy for Mutant Mayhem, the movie is currently sitting at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
