Robert Eggers latest flick The Northman’ will open in cinemas on April 21, starring Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Björk and Anya Taylor-Joy in a violent take on the story that inspired Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
It follows the story of Prince Amleth who is on the verge of becoming a man when his father is brutally murdered by his uncle, and kidnaps (and marries) his mother. Big oof.
The film takes place two decades later, where Amleth is now a Viking who is obsessed with saving his mother, killing his uncle and avenging his father.
It’s been described as a revenge-horror… which one reviewer saying he ‘couldn’t look away’.
