Snoop Dogg has tapped rock royalty for his latest single, ‘Another Part of Me’, enlisting none other than Sting.
The track leans heavily into the DNA of the Police’s 1979 smash hit, ‘Message in a Bottle,’ borrowing its instantly recognisable bass line, guitar riffs, and melody to create a fresh, genre-blurring anthem. Sting’s presence isn’t just instrumental – his vocals also feature in the song’s closing bars.
‘Another Part of Me’ is one of the standout tracks from Snoop’s highly anticipated album, Missionary. Teaming up with legendary producer Dr. Dre, the project pays homage to the (somewhat late) 30th anniversary of Snoop’s groundbreaking 1993 debut, Doggystyle.
Missionary promises more surprises, including a reimagining of Tom Petty’s classic ‘Last Dance with Mary Jane,’ featuring vocals from the late rock legend and rising country star Jelly Roll.
The album drops on December 13.
