Buckingham Palace has released a statement saying Queen Elizabeth II has tested positive for COVID-19. The palace said that she has been experiencing mild symptoms and continues to do light duties this week.
People who test positive for COVID-19 are required to self-isolate for at least five days, although the British government says it plans to lift that requirement for England in the coming week.
The Queen is vaccinated against COVID-19 as she has received three doses of the vaccine.
Recently, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall contracted COVID-19. This is the second time Prince Charles has contracted COVID-19.
Prime Minister Boris Johnston tweeted out his support for the Queen:
I’m sure I speak for everyone in wishing Her Majesty The Queen a swift recovery from Covid and a rapid return to vibrant good health.
