Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker is auctioning off a plane ticket from a recent trip to Australia to celebrate conquering his fear of flying.

Barker didn’t fly for 13 years after surviving a fatal plane crash in 2008 that killed both of the plane’s pilots, Travis’ security guard, Charles Still, and his assistant, Chris Baker, and left him with burns on 70 per cent of his body. Barker’s friend DJ AM survived, but died of an overdose a year later.

The private jet crash, which killed four of six people in South Carolina, September 20, 2008. Travis Barker and DJ AM were injured in the crash.

In 2021, he flew for the first time since the deadly accident, yet still admits “it takes a little piece of my life every time I fly.”

Earlier this year, the 44-year-old flew to Australia for the first time in 20 years when Blink toured, and has put his Qantas boarding pass is up for grabs for $8,000 (roughly $12,200 in Aussie bucks) on the Trophy auction website.

“A true one of a kind item for the ultimate Travis Barker collector,” the website reads of the listing.

“Having not flown for over 13 years following his near fatal plane crash, he was finally able to tour again overseas recently. This extremely rare commercial boarding pass is not just a piece of music memorabilia, it’s a true piece of Travis himself, complete with original hand-written note and cross drawing.”

It’s understood a portion of the proceeds will go to a local non-profit which supports families experiencing hardship, particularly around Christmas.
