Just months after it was brought back from the dead, Neighbours has scored its first Emmy nomination.
The Aussie soap landed a place in the Drama category at the Daytime Emmy Awards after Amazon Freevee began streaming it in the US.
It’s up against the usual daytime heavyweights including Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and The Bold & The Beautiful. The inclusion of US actor Mischa Barton since its return has been part of a broader strategy to give the show international appeal.
“Receiving a Daytime Emmy nomination not only honours our dedicated team but also marks an exciting chapter for Neighbours,” Executive Producer Jason Herbison told TV Tonight.
The Daytime Emmy winners will be announced on Friday, June 7.
