Scott Cam has described the actions of contestants who called time on The Block after just two days as ‘piss poor’ and ‘unAustralian’.
The host made the comments during a post-Logies brunch on Monday.
“We have a controversy on Day 2 of the series,” TV Tonight reported Cam saying.
“We had a 48 hour challenge to choose the house that you get and they scarpered after 48 hours. It’s something that’s never happened before.
“45,000 people applied to be on The Block and win life-changing money. These guys got on and they just couldn’t handle the pace after 48 hours. Which to me is a bit unAustralian! ‘Have a go!’ he implored.
“It’s piss-poor.”
In April, influencer Elle Ferguson and her fiancé, former AFL player Joel Patfull, had to quit after Joel’s mother suffered a nasty fall.
At the time, Nine confirmed the pair’s exit.
“Over the weekend, we were surprised to have one of our new contestant teams depart The Block a few days into filming for the upcoming season,” a statement read. “We wish them all the best for the future and we’re excited to have cast two new Aussies for the opportunity of a lifetime on The Block. The Block Tree Change will air as scheduled later this year.”
Nine is yet to formally confirm its cast for The Block: Tree Change, which is currently being filmed in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges, about an hour out of Melbourne known for its expansive native forests and the iconic Hanging Rock.
Contestants have been building several luxury rural escapes from weatherboard homes on massive 10-acre blocks and, for the first time, host Scott Cam has also been renovating his own homestead-style property.
