American fans of Bluey were left scratching their heads after watching the “Christmas Swim” episode.
In the episode, the family of dogs are seen eating Christmas lunch while wearing paper crowns. Pretty normal, right?
One Facebook user was so confused at this scene, they posted a screenshot asking, ‘What are the hats they wear, and what do they signify?’

Turns out, while our Christmas crackers, which usually contain the paper crown, a trinket and, by law, a terrible joke, are commonplace in the UK, Ireland and Commonwealth countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa, they’re pretty much unheard of in the US.
The comments users joked that Americans are missing out on “all the bad jokes” inside the crackers, while others wondered how they celebrate Christmas without them.
Despite the confusion, some Americans joked that the episode might spark a US Christmas bonbon (or cracker) craze. “There would definitely be a market for Bluey-themed Christmas bonbons,” one said. With the rise of Bluey’s popularity in the US, this Aussie tradition might soon find its way to American Christmas tables.
