So, this came off the back of this wild story Ryan Daniels told us about South Fremantle midfielder, Steely Green.
Firstly, he’s named after Steely Dan. As in the band. (Steely’s sister is named Aja, so there’s no doubt his parents are fans). Secondly, the story about how he got into AFL, from absolutely fricken nowhere, is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
Not only was it a shameless excuse to replay Steely’s origin story, but of course we couldn’t get past his name… and we opened the phones to find out if there were others who had a name which was directly influenced by music.
