For the past couple of weeks, Clairsy & Lisa have taken listeners on another trip back to the pubs, punters, and powerhouse local bands of Perth’s iconic 1980s live music scene.

We’re talking about the days when you’d scan the Daily News, grab a beer, and catch a band every single night of the week, at legendary venues like The Shents, The Overflow, Gobbles, the OBH, The Wizbah, The Underground, The Charles, The Raffles, the infamous Nookenburra (and its rowdy Nookenbusters shows) and Pinocchio’s.

This time around, Clairsy & Lisa’s Perth Pub Crawl hit the next level, speaking with even more legends of the era, including:

  • Suze DeMarchi (Baby Animals)
  • Peter Borg (Flash Harry)
  • Tod Johnston (V-Capri/PeaceLove)
  • Peter Dean (The Jets)
  • Tom Tapping (The Rookies)
  • Martin Cilia (The Flying Fonzarellis)
  • John Webster & Dave Cook (The Motors)
  • Tom Jennis (Clutch Cargo)

It all led up to an unforgettable night at the resurrected Pinocchio’s nightclub – a one-night-only celebration of Perth’s pub rock past, with live music, old friends, and a dancefloor that didn’t quit.

If you missed a couple of chats – or just want to relive them all – the full podcast is right here:
