A new world-class film and TV studio has been earmarked for the Perth suburb of Malaga.
Premier Mark McGowan made the announcement of the proposed site on Wednesday morning.
The location, off Marshall Road and south of Whiteman Park, was selected for its proximity to the Perth CBD and airport, access to future public transport, scale of the available land, and its direct access to major roads for travel to regional areas.
Site investigations, final design, and relevant planning applications are still to be conducted, but if the final proposal is approved, it’s anticipated that construction will kick off late 2023.
The WA Government also said that negotiations will also consider a Creative Industries Hub at the original proposed location – Victoria Quay’s E Shed in Fremantle.
