A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being bitten by an extremely venomous snake while sleeping in a rural Queensland home.
The woman aged in her 20s was bitten on the hand by an eastern brown snake in the Western Downs region just after 1am on Friday morning.
The woman’s family applied bandages to the wound before paramedics arrived.
A rescue chopper was able to land nearby and flew her to Toowoomba Hospital for further treatment.
She was in a stable condition during the flight.
