Melbourne captain Max Gawn will play in Sunday’s AFL game against West Coast after suffering a knee injury last weekend in the win over St Kilda.
Coach Simon Goodwin said on Thursday that Gawn is fully fit ahead of the round-nine game in Perth.
“He’s definitely going to be playing. He’s fully fit – he’s training today, he’s out there doing some centre bounce work,” Goodwin said.
“He’s firing on all cylinders and wants to go out and perform well for the club.”
Meanwhile, West Coast continue to be dogged by injuries and COVID-19, the latest being midfielder Elliot Yeo who entered the health and safety protocols on Tuesday, ruling him out again this week.
Yeo has missed the last two games with concussion and his 2020 and 2021 campaigns were heavily affected by osteitis pubis.
West Coast will take on Melbourne at 3.20pm on Sunday at Optus Stadium
