Soccer fans who were assured (and reassured) that, yes, they’ll be able to enjoy a beer while watching the tournament in a normally-dry Qatar have had the rug pulled up from under them at the last minute.
“In the lead-up, they’ve been letting people drink – beers have been $AU20 each,” Ryan Daniels told Clairsy & Lisa, to which Lisa responded with a deadpan “beg your pardon”.
Thing is, right up until a couple of days before the first game, they’ve suddenly negged on it.
“They’d been saying, ‘yeah, you can drink, you can drink – no, you can’t now’,” Rhino said, before driving home the fact that US brewer Budweiser is a main sponsor of the event.
“And they’re pissed,” Rhino said.

Budweiser a FIFA sponsor for over 30 years which pays the organization more than $100M per World Cup cycle won’t be allowed to serve you beer in or around the stadiums here in Qatar.
They’ve just learned of this ..
48 hours before opening kick of the tournament. 🫠
